Joy Allen, Durham Police and Crime Commissioner has visited a number of our projects over the past few months, including HMP Durham, Early Days in Custody project, HMP Frankland (27 July 2022) and HMP YOI Low Newton on 6 July 2022.

Following her visit to Low Newton to hear about our work supporting women in prison and their loved ones, Joy said:

"I had a very interesting and insightful visit to Low Newton and welcothe opportunity to meet with Nepacs staff, prison officers and prisoners. I came away much better informed about local provision and the valuable work Nepacs are doing supporting prisoners and their families. It was a real eye opener listening to the stories of women prisoners, hearing how they came to be there and learning what could be done differently to prevent offending and reoffending.

"I hope this is the first of many visits during my term of office and I look forward to working with Nepacs, partners, prisoners and prison staff to make positive and progressive changes that will benefit both the women and their families."

We look forward to welcoming Joy to HMP Deerbolt in the near future.
