Prison visits to adults are suspended in tiers 3 & 4, & alert level 4. This includes prisons in the north east of England.

Prisons are contacting anyone who had a visit booked to inform them but if you do have any questions or concerns please ring the prison.

Keep in touch 
If you can't visit a loved one in prison, remember there are other ways to keep in touch with them:

- Speak on the telephone (prisoners can call those on their approved contact list), or exchange voice messages using @PrisonVoicemail -
- Send an email using Email A Prisoner at
- Write them a letter
